Is overprotection of children a problem? Should children be exposed to more risks? Are children being kept in bubblewrap? Helicopter parents?

I do feel nowadays some parents are very overprotective, to the extent in which their children struggle as they get older to be more independent.

I have children myself and as much as I am protective when I need to be, I could never be a parent who did not bring my children up to be independent like they are now.

I think overprotecting children isn't good for the child. Honestly I feel like my mother was too overprotective of me, I was her first born though. She was more lenient with my sister and I deal with social anxiety now. (Though to be fair, I've always felt like I am on the autism spectrum, which can make social interactions difficult.)

Overprotecting children isn't good in the long run as when it comes to the children growing up, they won't be independent enough to do things by themselves.

The overprotection of a child is detrimental to both their surroundings and themselves. My opinion is that as a child, it's important to have a good time, not to be stuck at home and become a total dork.
