Lifmunk Effigies not working?

I try to stay away from the internet, enjoy the game at my own pace, but recently I tried to get to raise my catch rate, but it didn't feel like anything happened? Like, it's the same. I checked.
Do you guys know anything?

Basically, there might be a bug (haven't encountered it myself) where effigies didn't stack at all. You still lost them. Saw a guide here, they show a small workaround, but good news is, this effigies respawn just fine (will be annoying to get them tho).
